Book Club: The Right Move (Windy City Series)
Hey Readers!
Wow. Okay, Liz Tomforde blew this one away. I enjoyed this one much more than the first, Mile High. The first was very much new love, young love, and all that typical rom-com stuff (that you know I love). While a great book, I ended it feeling kind of gagged out with how cheesy it got at the end- although overall a good read. I was glad The Right Move picked up right where Mile High left off, and we didn’t lose our beloved Stevie & Zanders.
Now, we follow Indy and Ryan’s story- which has a lot of pain, hurt, and settling for less than you deserve. But it also has a lot of love, being shown your worth, learning your own worth, and how to love out loud- even if its the quiet “nothings” that shout it the loudest. Girl, moral of this story: if he wanted to, he would! Don’t settle for less, and don’t ever make yourself small.
I personally took a liking to Indy’s story most. When I moved from Texas to New York, I also found it hard to let go of my “old life”. The life I had built and envisioned. There were of course several parts of it I loved, and wasn't quite ready to let go of. The one that stuck the longest was the urge to boss babe. Learning to let go of hustle culture, learning to be fulfilled and happy being a mom at home. But you know what, after one long hard look in the mirror- I realized it’s okay to leave the past behind- especially if your “new life” that you built is ten times more beautiful than you could have imagined. I’ll be honest- the similarities are a bit of a reach, but I love finding myself, or even pieces of me in characters in books that I read.
I left Mile High longing for a little bit more grown up characters in life, as in family oriented. Or even characters who had been through life and some hurt a bit. I was thrilled when that is exactly what The Right Move provided. Oh, and speaking of adult- yeah Liz Tomforde did not hold back on this one- arguably even better than the first. Overall, do I recommend this book? If you are looking for a happy rom-com type of book, a little bit predictable, with a hint of suspense- yes. I give this one 4 stars.
